Exposure to water and daily-use chemicals (like soap, perfume, sunblock, etc.) speeds up the breakdown of jewelry plating. To prolong its life, keep your plated jewelry clean and dry. Silver plating is especially prone to cracking and flaking in humidity.

Remove plated jewelry before any wet activity, including handwashing, swimming, or sweating at the gym. Store it in a dry place, not in the bathroom. Put it on after applying products like hairspray or perfume, and remove it before bed, especially if you tend to sweat. Keeping it dry is key!
